Is the pasta fat?

For many years, it was believed that pasta is a product that ruins our diet. However, dietitians explain that it is not he who gets fat, and the sauces that we add to it are responsible for the high caloric content of dishes.

In 100g of dry product there is about 330 kcal. This may seem like a lot, unless we take into account the fact that cooked pasta even 3 times increases its volume. Eating a plate of spaghetti for lunch, which has 200g, you will deliver to the body the amount of calories similar to half a chocolate bar. With the difference that pasta will leave you fuller for longer and will provide many valuable ingredients such as protein, fiber and vitamins.

Of course, the healthiest are whole grains and pasta with a low glycemic index. They contain many vitamins, more fiber, a lot of protein and fewer calories. From the products available on store shelves, it is best to choose pasta with rye or with durum flour. However, if we have the possibility, it is worth opting for its equivalent of orchid, buckwheat or chickpeas, which contains the fewest calories.

It is also worth remembering that colored pasta works exclusively on the senses, and often its values do not differ from products of natural color. However, before buying it, it is worth checking the composition, because dyes can cause allergies.

This cooked al dente is considered the healthiest pasta, which can be translated as “uncomfortable”. It provides a lower glycemic index, a slower digestion process and a longer feeling of fullness.

Here are some tips to help you cook an even better meal:

  • For every 100g of product, use 1l of water – thanks to this pasta will get the right consistency, which will not crumble.
  • Add salt just before throwing in the pasta – it is recommended to add about 0.5 teaspoons per 1l of water.
  • Wait until the water boils – throwing the dry product into the boil will give it a better taste and texture at the end.
  • Do not lunge the pasta – this way you get rid of the starch, which helps to attach the sauce to the product.
  • Add a little water from the pasta to the sauce – this will thicken the sauce, make it easier to cook and improve the taste.

Remember that on the diet you should not give up favorite products. Choose them less calorific and healthier versions, or amounts that will not cause a big jump in calories. Tasty meals not only improve mood, but also help to maintain resolutions.
